Our 8-step Planting Process
1. We prepare the planting site: Clearing the area of grass, weeds, and debris.
2. We determine the planting hole dimensions following generally accepted principles of tree and shrub planting: 2-3 times the width of the planter pot or root ball, and the depth no deeper than the root ball itself, while keep the sides of the hole slightly sloping to facilitate root growth
3. We dig the hole using all the tools at our disposal customizing our approach uniquely to your landscaping to finish your planting service. We have pick axes, shovels, pinch point bars, post hole diggers, mini augers, large augers, and everything in between. Most of all, we do this day in and day out. We do not cut corners because we love what we do! It isn't a job. It's our lifestyle. See us in action!

4. We prepare the plant: Gently removing the plant from its container and taking care not to damage the roots. If the roots are tightly bound in a circular pattern, we loosen them gently with our fingers.
5. We position the plant: Placing the tree or shrub in the center of the hole, ensuring that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. If the plant is grafted, then we will position the graft union (the bulging part near the base of the stem) at least 2 inches above the soil line.
6. We backfill the hole: Partially filling the hole with the excavated soil, mixing in our high quality compost mix, actively aerated compost tea, and organic starter fertilizer. Afterwards, we gently tamp down the soil to eliminate air pockets.
7. We water the plant: Thoroughly watering the root zone to help settle the soil and establish good root-to-soil contact. This is crucial for the plant's establishment and future growth.
8. Finish backfilling by adding the remaining soil to the hole, tamping it down gently as we go. We will automatically stake large trees 30 gallons or larger. If you purchased our mulch delivery and installation service, then we will proceed to install mulch, laying 2-4" thick layer around the base of the plant, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk or stem. Mulch helps conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and moderate soil temperature.
From here on forward, all you need to do is water regularly, especially during the first few weeks until moist. Moist means that if the soil is already damp and wet, you may skip watering. If the soil is dry, then you must water until moist. Sometimes, especially during dry periods, it means watering multiple times a day until moist. Monitor the plant's health and growth, and adjust your watering and care practices accordingly.
